My dad keeps “reminding” me that it would be incredibly difficult to actually repeal Roe v. Wade, it would be incredibly difficult to pass an actual constitutional amendment banning abortion, et cetera.
And it’s like … I know. We know. What we’re afraid of is conservatives passing laws that undercut RvW and render it effectively meaningless. Which is what we’re seeing them try to do every. single. day. And some of these laws are passing. Just look at Georgia and Alabama. And yes, these laws will likely be struck down in court. But still. They’re passing.
And, if the political climate keeps spiraling the way it has been since the last election and we end up with even more conservative lawmakers and (perhaps more importantly) conservative judges, I feel like it’s conceivable that they could potentially get the numbers to actually undo RvW in the not-too-distant future.
